Fortuna venit

When we started this project we were so optimistic, we were 3 programmers and 4 artists strong and we had 3 weeks to make a game.
Sadly we had to redo this project because we didn’t finish in time.
We had way to many features we wanted to make, especially for students who’s first unity experience was only a few months ago.
The result was a buggy mess that barely got above 25fps.
Afterwards we patched it up so the worst bugs were squashed and it stayed above 30fps.
We also added stuff that was supposed to be in there the first time like a proper menu and clear instructions.
It still wasn’t perfect but it was much better than we had before.
That said I must say It was very educational experience, learning how unity’s animation system works, how to make tools for the unity editor (I made a tool that allowed the designer to trace out a path for the security robots), how to use two cameras to either combine the images using layers (I know there’s a way more efficient way of doing this using shaders but it’s still useful knowledge) or how to render a camera to a texture (see the image of the map on the phone below)
In the end we got a 7/10

THE GAME:

You play as a thief that has to steal a specific painting from a museum while avoiding detection, the location of this painting is randomized.
The player can steal other objects as well to increase their final score.
